Michael Macko has joined Partner Engineering and Science, Inc. (Partner), as a Senior Archaeologist based out of the Irvine, California office. With over 40 years of experience in archaeological and cultural resources studies, Macko brings a wealth of expertise to the Partner team. His expertise extends to diverse sectors, including energy, defense, transportation, mining, residential, and telecommunications. Noteworthy project experiences include field studies for the multistate Intermountain Power Project and the Newport Coast Residential development in Orange County, California.

Macko holds a Master’s in Anthropology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, earned in 1983, and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the same institution, achieved in 1978. He is a Secretary of Interior Qualified Archaeologist and has held statewide Bureau Land Management Cultural Resource Use Permits in California and Nevada. He is a Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA ID#: 990181) with certifications in Field and Collections Research. Notably, he also holds an FAA Remote UAV Pilot Certificate, further enhancing his capabilities in conducting comprehensive assessments.
Throughout his career, Michael Macko has distinguished himself as a leading figure in the field of archaeology. He has been instrumental in designing and executing various phases of cultural resource field studies, ranging from small-scale surveys to complex excavations. His leadership extends to project budgeting, staffing, subcontracting, agency coordination, and permit approvals, ensuring that all research aspects are meticulously managed. Mr. Macko’s contributions extend beyond the field, with published works in professional journals and the preparation of numerous investigation reports.
At Partner, Macko’s role as Senior Archaeologist entails fulfilling several leadership responsibilities such as overseeing and managing cultural resource assessments and environmental reviews across the United States.
