Survey Services, Jeweler’s Exchange Building—Cincinnati, OH

In early 2017, the Tennessee-based hospitality company, Vision Hospitality Group, LLC, acquired the Jewelers Exchange building at 37 W. Seventh St. in Downtown Cincinnati. With the goal of converting this 58,000SF office building into a hip boutique hotel, Partner was engaged by the client to perform site survey services. Architect Bob Knight worked with the client and their architect to develop the specific engineering solutions needed, which included:

  • Utility Information: Location, size, depth and pressure of water and gas mains; descriptions of utility encasements; location, elevation, and characteristics of power, cable television, street lighting, traffic control facilities, and communications systems; and flow of sanitary sewers, combination sewers, and storm drains.
  • Boundary and Topographic Information:  Topography of site; spot elevations on paving, etc.; floor elevations; State elevation datum using North American Vertical Datum (NAVD 88).

The Jewelry Exchange was previously known as the Resor Building and Willis Building, had been in the family of Mayor John Cranley for four decades. Cranley’s father Jay launched the John J. Cranley Co. insurance brokerage business at the building in the 1970s. By preserving its distinctive architecture and honoring the property’s historic significance in the region, Partner was proud to play a role in this urban adaptive reuse project.
