A Plat or Survey Map is the result of the ALTA/NSPS Land Title Survey – also commonly referred to as a Property Map. The Plat Map or Property Map can be very detailed and should contain a great detail of information about the subject property including ownership, rights and limitations to use the property. The Plat Map will depict all information identified in the ALTA Survey, including: boundary, descriptions, dimensions, closures, easements, servitudes, rights of way, access and record documents. The Plat Map of the ALTA Survey must be certified depicting the language specified by the 2016 Minimum Standard Detail for ALTA Surveys.
The Plat Map is typically filed along with the deed to the property or other public records regarding the property in the county recorder’s office.
